Ewe to Yarn Series – Class #1

Learn about fleece selection and skirting, and get some hands-on experience washing raw fleece in the morning – then dye your clean wool in the afternoon!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Class starts at 10 am on Saturday, January 12, 2019, breaks at noon for lunch, and continues from 1 – 3 pm.

This is the first class in a series taking the student from raw fleece to spun yarn.  Sign up for the entire series, or select from the offerings to hone your skills.  Check out the other classes in the series: Fiber Prep Tool Time, Beginning Wheel Spinning, and Spinning Exploration.

Instructor: Paula Smith

Class fee $40, plus $15 for materials.  Register online and bring payment to class.

Materials to bring:

  • Lunch!  And if you have them…
    • Mesh laundry bags
    • Plastic tubs
    • Crock pot dedicated to dyeing – non-food use!!

Instructor will provide:

  • One pound raw wool
  • Gloves
  • Soap
  • Dye
  • Labels

The location for all classes is the Fiber Arts Center of Wichita at 751 George Washington Boulevard.
