This multi-week class is especially for beginners, and covers spinning and plying techniques to create yarns for knitting, crochet or weaving.  Fiber will be provided.

Bring your own wheel or borrow a class wheel to take home for the duration of the class.

At the end of this class, you’ll be amazed at the fiber magic skills you will have at your fingertips!

Masks are required.

Class will be held on three Saturdays, March 12, 19 and 26, 2022. The sessions will run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a lunch break (bring your lunch and drinks). Class fee of $210 covers three sessions, and includes all spinning fiber.  If you choose, you may bring your own fiber (BYOF), which will reduce the class fee by $35. You will need 1 lb. or 450 gm of Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) and/or Corriedale top or roving for the majority of the work.* You may bring additional types of fiber, or may purchase them from the instructor.

Pre-registration is required. Register online and submit $60 (via PayPal or check) to reserve your spot, and bring the remaining $150 (or $115 if BYOF) payment to the first class.   Please note in the comments on the registration form if you need to borrow a wheel.

Materials to bring:

Instructor will provide:

  • All spinning fiber (see BYOF note above)
  • Wheel if you don’t have one of your own

Instructor Pat Doherty learned to spin in Australia, and will guide you creatively and patiently.  We look forward to seeing you learn this ancient craft that is new again!

The location for all classes is the Fiber Arts Center of Wichita at 751 George Washington Boulevard.
