Guild members are looking forward to Dye Day as the last meeting of the ‘guild year’ on Saturday, May 3rd!

11FleeceDye2Marnette will be hosting this meeting at her home; directions have been sent via email to members.  Anyone who did not get that message can use the contact page to request that information.

Plan to arrive by 10:00 a.m. and stay through lunch.  Roast beef and homemade bread will be provided, so attendees are requested to bring salad, vegetable or dessert.

Other items to bring:

  • Outdoor chair
  • Your fiber, presoaked and still wet
  • Mesh bags and/or waterproof tags to identify and separate your yarn and fiber
  • Plastic bags to take your wet, dyed fiber home
  • Heavy duty rubber gloves, apron

And if you have them:

  • Dyeing equipment, including pots and burners
  • Dyes

Don’t forget to wear old clothes and shoes!

Business at this meeting will include election of officers for next year and selection of a guild logo for use on items such as bags, mugs, etc.  (Don’t forget to bring your sketches!!)

Logo Contest

We’re having a contest!

The Guild needs a logo, for use on bags, mugs, or any other ‘branding’ uses we can dream up.

Since we don’t have one, and since the members are all extremely creative and talented people, we think that we should be able to come up with some great designs.  Please bring your sketches or finished images to the May 2014 meeting – and be sure to attend this last meeting of the year so you can vote for your favorite!

Oh, yes… the winning designer won’t get any fancy prize, just bragging rights and a great feeling of contributing to the Guild!

For the April meeting we will be learning card weaving with Nancy Squire teaching us.  She will provide us with the yarn, shuttles, and instructions.

We will be weaving a small bag that says “stay warped” in QR code.

You will also need to bring 75 weaving cards (3 sets).  Nancy recommends that you get the kind with the square hole in the middle, but that would be a convenience, not a requirement.

If you have an inkle loom, feel free to bring it along – again, that is not a requirement for participating in the weaving project.

Directions to McKnight Hall: Exit off of Hillside onto Alumni Drive. The McKnight building will be on your right. Enter the north wing (around the curve of the street) through the brown double doors that face Hillside. Parking is available in the lot across the street from the McKnight Building.
