Cupcakes from Summer

This first meeting of the guild year will include some time for Show and Tell from those summer workshops and projects.  Come and share what you did with fiber this summer!

We will dye balls of yarn a la Kathrin Weber, in a technique from the workshop this spring. This is a fast and fun way to take that old unhappy cellulose-based yarn, wind it into a tight ball, and double dye it into a colorful skein, begging to become a thing of beauty.

Bring some yarn – cotton, bamboo, and rayon work best; no 100 % silk or wool please! – and some flat bottomed cottage cheese containers with lids. There will be ball winders if you can’t wind it ahead. We will provide the white stuff to soak it in and the dye. Nancy Squire and Paula Smith have this all organized and ready.

And we’ll have real cupcakes for snacks!

Remember – even if you are not interested in this month’s program, we still want to see you!  Feel free to bring any portable project to work on, or just come for social time and for any business that needs to be addressed. See you there!

Directions: Exit off of Hillside onto Alumni Drive. The McKnight building is the second building on your right. Enter the north wing (around the curve of the street) through the brown double doors that face Hillside. Parking is available in the lot across the street from the McKnight Building.
