The registration deadline for the Kansas Alliance of Weavers and Spinners (KAWS) Conference (May 29 – 31) has been pushed back one week to May 8th!
As of this writing, there were still openings in all classes, so if you are interested in registering, please do so right away!
If you cannot attend, but would like to browse the vendor booths, that section is open to the public on Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please see the KAWS 2015 page for more information.
The program for this meeting was dyeing silk scarves with Sharpies. Yes, you read that correctly… Sharpie permanent markers!
After drawing on the prepared scarves with Sharpies, alcohol (not the drinking kind) was dribbled, dripped or poured on, which liquefied the colored inks.
Some members went with very artistic and detailed designs, others experimented with blobs of color and how the colors ran and intermixed before the alcohol dried. The variety is fascinating… and although you can’t see them here, the finished scarves are beautiful!
