After CityArts administration told us they were ending the weaving classes, Guild members scrambled to find a way to keep fiber instruction opportunities alive in Wichita.
In a few short weeks, we have planned to receive the looms and other classroom equipment and supplies as a donation from the City of Wichita (thank you!!), identified a viable location, come up with a financial plan, and presented the information to the Guild members at large. The immediate outcome was a unanimous vote at the November meeting to support this exciting effort!
And now the time is short, and the logistics and other planning by the steering committee has ramped up to the next phase.
If all goes well, we will move everything out of the current space in mid-December to our new home, and start classes in January!
Once everything is signed and finalized, we’ll be delighted to share the details and start taking class registrations, but we’re not quite at that point yet.
