Classes and More Classes

Wichita Weavers, Spinners & Dyers Guild Posted on January 24, 2018 by webadminJanuary 29, 2018

We’re into our third week of classes at the Fiber Arts Center, and things are going well!

Ummm, that is, if you don’t count the heating glitches just before classes started, and the interesting winter weather that followed shortly afterwards.  And the arm injury that has put our basket weaving teacher out of commission for a while.

Even so, the anticipation has been rewarded with lots of laughing and learning in spite of the temporary setbacks.

Next assignment – find more instructors and line up more classes!  We have some slots to fill in for February and March, and the 2018 second quarter slate will need to be scheduled soon.

If you have an idea for a class, we have a virtual suggestion box.  And if you’re an instructor (or want to be!), propose a class – we’d love to hear from you!

Almost Ready to Open the Doors

Wichita Weavers, Spinners & Dyers Guild Posted on December 23, 2017 by webadminDecember 23, 2017

Everything has been moved to our new location at 751 George Washington Boulevard in Wichita, and we’re getting settled in and ready to start a new chapter in the Guild’s history with the first classes in January 2018!

Online registration is now live for the classes scheduled for the first quarter – online payment isn’t quite ready yet, but will show up as an option as soon as possible.  See the class calendar or click on a class featured on the site’s home page.

This location seems meant for the new Fiber Arts Center – from the beautiful architecture to the ease of access.  Can you tell we’re excited?

Several Guild members spent days planning, cleaning, packing and moving, and many others pitched in whenever they could.  December isn’t the easiest time of year to carve out time for a major project, but this enterprise is dear to our hearts, and it was managed beautifully.

We know there will be some bumps in the road as we sort out details and class logistics, so we appreciate your support as we work to solve any problems that crop up in our new adventure.  Join us in making 2018 a fun and productive year!
