Learn how to dye locks of wool in beautiful hues! (Click the images to see them full size.)   This will involve hand painting long and short locks, then steaming for permanence.

Plan your colors ahead of time, or just be inspired by the gorgeous options and go with the flow.   

Participants will also learn basic wool and dye chemistry (and why it’s important).  Some wool handling experience is helpful, but not necessary.

Class will be held on Saturday, October 15, from 1 – 4 pm.

Masks are optional.

Once you finish dyeing, what can you do to show of your beautiful locks? Learn how to spin them into lush art yarn! Check out the spinning class on Saturday, October 22nd.

Class fee $50.  Register online and submit $15 via PayPal to reserve your spot. Bring the remaining $35 (cash & check accepted) to class.

Materials to bring:

  • Rubber gloves (with no holes!)
  • Apron – and/or wear old clothes and shoes

Instructor will provide:

  • Dyes and equipment
  • 2 oz. of locks, long & short
  • Instructions, including at-home finishing process

The location for all classes is the Fiber Arts Center of Wichita at 751 George Washington Boulevard.
