Every other year, the Handweavers Guild of America holds its international conference – and it will be held in Wichita this year, from July 11 – July 17 !

Around 700 fiber artists are preparing to descend on downtown Wichita. As the local Guild, a number of our members are working hard behind the scenes to support the conference and attendees. We all owe them a big thank-you!

Many of the wonderful events are open only to conferees, but there are still great opportunities for local residents to enjoy. Among those are the Marketplace at Century II’s Expo Hall on Thursday – Sunday, July 11 – 14. There’s an impressive list of over 50 vendors, with the all-too-rare opportunity to see their wares and speak to them in person! Admission does require a day pass, OR interested people can receive free admission after volunteering for just a couple of hours.

There are a number of gallery exhibits planned, including Small Expressions (July 2 – August 6) at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Wichita Weavers, Spinners & Dyers Guild’s Fiber Arts Center of Wichita open house, and stroll through our gallery exhibit just down the hall at The Studio|School.

Our doors will be open to visitors from 6:00 – 8:30 pm on Saturday, July 13th. Come see us!
