Use a Drum Carder for Color Blending, Heathers and Tweeds

This fiber prep class is designed for spinners of all experience levels – and not just for those who own a drum carder!  These techniques can be used (in smaller batches) with hand cards.

Tweed yarn and battClass will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 9 am to noon.

  • Get hands-on experience blending colors and creating gradients on a drum carder
  • Examine commercial heather and tweed yarns to see what goes into them, and learn techniques to make batts for spinning tweed yarns
  • Take home ready-to-spin batts and dyed fiber samples to continue exploring color

* Bring a drum carder if you have one and are willing to work with a partner, and get a $5 registration discount!

Class fee $30, plus $6 for materials.  Register online and bring payment to the class.

Materials to bring (if you have them):

  • Samples of commercial tweed or heather yarns
  • Dyed fiber (small amounts are fine) to use and/or share
  • Drum carder – use the coupon code on the registration page for a discount!
Instructor will provide:

  • Dyed fiber
  • Tweed add-ins
  • Drum carder to share
