Masster wheat weaver Marian Vavra will teach participants how to create Christmas and winter ornaments by learning the arrow plait. This richly textured straw weaving makes fascinating candy canes, wreaths, and icicles. She will also share the story of how it came to be called the arrow plait.
Each participant will make two plaits and will be shown how to shape and decorate them. Along the way, Marian will teach two basic knots used for tying the straws. Written instructions will be available.
This is a good beginner project, and open to other skill levels, too! No previous experience is required, and the class is suitable for adults and children ages 12 and older.
Class will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 1 pm – 3 pm.
