Learn and practice techniques for spinning a fine, consistent yarn. This skill applies to creating both laceweight and sock yarns, but the needs for each diverge from that point!
Find out what yarn structures are generally considered best for knitted openwork lace and for long-wearing socks, and discuss various fibers and fiber qualities for those uses.
Participants will receive fiber samples to hone their spinning skills for both 2-ply laceweight and 3-ply sock weight yarns. We will also cover spinning from the fold and chain plying.
Masks optional.
Prerequisites: This class is for anyone who is comfortable spinning a continuous yarn, joining a new fiber supply, and plying.
Class will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
