This is an introductory class on weaving bands or tapes on an inkle loom. Students will learn the parts of this tabletop loom and then warp it, make heddles, and weave. Adults and kids (10 and older) will enjoy this activity.
Handwoven bands have been used for centuries as belts, trim for garments, cords for jewelry, bag straps and even shoelaces. Reenactors use woven tape for garment ties and drawstrings, as well as other uses such as tying bundles. Inkle bands are quite strong and can be used anywhere a flat band is needed.
Participants will complete a bookmark in class.
Class will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 1 – 5 pm.
There are a limited number of inkle looms available for use in class, so people are encouraged to bring their own. Choose the registration link that applies to you!
Note that Guild-owned looms will need to have projects removed at the end of class, but participants with their own looms can of course finish at home.
