Everyone can learn the process of ice dyeing! Students will be instructed in the chemistry and techniques of ice dyeing while working step by step through the creative process.
Each student will dye a prepared piece of cotton fabric, approximately 25”X34”, to take home. Students will scrunch, twist, and/or tie their fabric for dyeing, choose a color, and learn to apply the dye and ice.
Instructions will be provided to finish the project at home following a 24 hour batch time.
All supplies for this class will be provided, but students may wish to bring an apron to protect clothing.
This event follows the monthly Guild meeting, after a break for lunch – so plan to attend the meeting and then stay for the class. Be sure to register online ahead of time to reserve your spot!
Class will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 1 – 3 pm.
Class fee $35. Register online and submit $10 via PayPal. Bring the remaining $25 (cash and check accepted) to class and pay instructor directly.

Paula Smith has researched and taught dyes and dyeing techniques for many years, and will share from her expansive wealth of knowledge.
The location for all classes is the Fiber Arts Center of Wichita at 751 George Washington Boulevard.
Enter through the double door off Morris St. (south side of building). Accessible entrance is on the east side, near the gym.
