Tapestry Weaving

Small tapestry weaving on the loomThis multi-session class is a great introduction to tapestry weaving using small copper pipe looms.

Instruction will include selecting tapestry yarns, various tapestry weaving methods, and techniques and finishing methods.  Learn the difference between tapestry weaving and balanced weaving.

Students will work on creating a small tapestry.  Looms will be provided for class use!

This 4-week class will be held on Mondays, July 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 1:00 – 3:30 pm.

Instructor: Lu Ross

Class fee $90.  Register online and bring payment (cash, check or card) to the first class. 

Optional – add $5 for weft yarn

Materials to bring:

  • Scissors
  • Sewing gauge
  • Tape measure
  • Weft yarn: 100% wool – no superwash! – in worsted weight, 3 colors of the same brand (unless you specify at registration that you want instructor to provide)
  • Patience and creativity!

  • Looms
  • Warp yarn
  • Battens
  • Cartoons
  • Tapestry needles
  • Additional tools to try
